Austria’s Eco Pickerl stickers are valid in 6 environmental zones. All trucks entering Austria must have an eco sticker, indicating the toxicity class of the exhaust gas. Since 2012, entry bans have been introduced for trucks, coaches, and since 2015, an environmental sticker is required. Ordering a sticker from our store requires sending a scan of the registration certificate to determine the emission level. The sticker includes part of the chassis number and control number.
Ecological zones in Austria:
The obligation to have an environmental badge applies to areas such as :
– Vienna,
-Upper Austria,
-Styria (Steiermark),
-Tyrol (Tirol)
– Burgenland,
Currently, environmental stickers are required for cars:
– Trucks up to 3.5 tons
-Trucks over 3.5 tons
– Passenger cars registered as trucks
– Coaches
– Motorhomes
The Eco badge comes in 6 different colors, corresponding to different EURO emission classes.
Each badge comes with a certificate, confirmation of the car’s registration in Austria, called IG-LUFT-PLAKETTENZUWEISUNG.
Penalties for not having an environmental badge
– Failure to have an environmental sticker in areas that require one can result in a financial penalty that can reach more than 2,000 euros.
– Also remember that the badge should be visible to avoid problems at roadside inspections.
To properly attach an environmental badge to a car in Austria, you must :
– The environmental sticker should be placed on the windshield of the vehicle, in the lower right corner (or close to it). This is required in order to be visible during a roadside inspection.
– Surface preparation: make sure the place where you will stick the badge is clean and dry, remove dirt, dust and grease from the glass.
Badge application: stick the badge in the desired location, starting from one side and gradually pressing it against the glass to avoid air bubbles under the sticker
– Environmental badge for Austria – valid indefinitely
The environmental badge, which is required to enter environmental zones in Austria, is valid indefinitely. This means that once purchased and affixed, the badge remains valid for the life of the vehicle, regardless of changing environmental laws or regulations.
Destroyed environmental badge – no duplicate available
If the environmental badge is damaged, it is not possible to replace it with a duplicate. If the badge is damaged, a new one must be ordered. Please note that the environmental badge is mandatory in environmental zones in Austria, and its absence may result in a fine.
